Pinecone Poms for Winter Weddings
Supplies
- White styrofoam balls
- Artificial pinecones
- Ribbon for hanging
- Glue gun
- Floral pin
- Scissors
Step 1: Prep Your Pine
We found these artificial pine cones at our local craft store, and chose of mix of sparkly, plain and frosted styles to give the pom some dimension. Heat up your glue gun. Cut your pine cones down so there’s only 1-2 inches of stem left.
Step 2: Glue and Stick
Like arranging a bouquet, work your way around the ball to push the pinecones in by their stems. Remember, it’s okay if the white of the ball shows through (like ours). Since it’s white, it’ll look like snow! To ensure the cones stay in place, dab each stem with hot glue before you push it into the styrofoam. Don’t forget to leave a small space for your hanging ribbon.
Step 3: Hang and Admire
Cut a piece of ribbon to the hanging length you desire. Fold the ends so you have a base to glue it to the styrofoam. Glue in place, and put your floral pin in for extra hanging strength. Then, fill the rest of your ball with remaining pinecones. Let everything set overnight before hanging.
Create as many of these, in as many sizes, to create a chic winter atmosphere. Then, hang on chair backs, shepherds hooks or wherever you see fit!
