What is Kala Ghoda Arts Festival?
The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is annual festival, nine days long, commencing always on the first Saturday of February and closing always on the second Sunday in February, in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai, India.
Food workshops for February 3rd and 4th, 2018 will be held at 28, Downtown - Eros Cinema.
Food workshops from February 5th - 11th, 2018 will be held at Westside.
Vani Ganapathy will perform on February 3rd, 2018, 3 pm at NGMA
Deepali Vichare will perform on February 3rd, 2018, 9.15 pm at Babasaheb Dahanukar Hall
Lined up events this year!
- Staging Frames by Dipali Vichare: Various dance pieces based on music from Marathi films and Maharashtra such as Koli, Gondhal, Mujara, Lavani and Kathak jugalbandhi. (3 February, 9:35pm, Cross Maidan)
- Ask the Sexpert: An award-winning feature-length documentary centered on a highly popular sex advice columnist for a daily newspaper in India, Dr. Mahinder Watsa. (3 February, 3pm, Coomaraswamy Hall)
- The Current And Future Waves Of Our Sea: Better Foods, Know Your Fish, Off The Hook, O Pedro: A panel discussion about the variety of seafood in the city, the influences and industrialisation; Shubham Karchaudhuri, Ketki Jog, Junaid Daruwala, Kumud Dadlani, and Chef Hussain Shahzad. (5 February, 3pm, Artisans’)
- Dastangoi: “Dastan Amar Aiyaar aur Amir Hamza ke Bachpan Ki”: A solo rendition of humourous childhood stories of Amir Hamza and Amar Aiyaar in the traditional Dastangoi style, presented by The Phoenix Players. (8 February, 5.30pm, Babasaheb Dahanukar Hall)
- Anu Menon: Popularly known as Lola Kutty on Channel V, the stand-up comedy star is known for crafting a distinctive persona from Kerala, complete with thick accent, silk saris and flowers in her hair. Anu appears at many of her public outings dressed as Lola Kutty. (7 February, 4pm, Irish House)
- Brahmaputra – The Story of a Mysterious River: A musical drama of a journey of the Brahmaputra river showcasing the various cultures and values with larger than life puppets with special emphasis on river water conservation and cleanliness. (11 February, 5.30pm, Museum Gardens)
- One Heart: The AR Rahman Concert Film: A glimpse into AR Rahman’s 14-city tour in North America. Along with clips from concerts, it also has shots from rehearsals and his interactions with his bandmates. (6 February, 2.30pm, Coomaraswamy Hall)
- Yeh Hai “Bombay” Meri Jaan: Through this heritage walk, experience the story of the moving pictures of late 19th-century Bombay and the evolution of “picture palaces” as they were known, depicting the dawn of cinema and cinematic architecture, and their adaptation and evolution over time. (8 February, 4.30pm, Capitol Cinema, opposite CST Station; assembly at 4.15pm)
- The Hope Street Poets: An Evening Celebrating The Hope That Poetry Affords: Adil Jussawalla, Arundhathi Subramaniam, Ranjit Hoskote, Jane Bhandari, Vinita Agrawal, Menka Shivdasani, Mustansir Dalvi, Priya Sarukkai Chabria, Sampurna Chattarji, Udayan Thakker, Barnali Ray Shukla, Smita Sahay, Jennifer Robertson, Bina Sarkar Ellias, Anju Makhija, Nabina Das, Dion D’Souza, Ashwani Kumar, Anjali Purohit (7 February, 5pm, DSL Garden)
- Louiz Banks Matrixx featuring Louiz Banks, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’silva, Kush Upadhyay and Vasundhara Vee The Louiz Banks Electro Matrixx group will perform a blend of Contemporary Jazz incorporating elements of New Age, Rhythm n’ Blues, Soul, Latin and Rock. (4 February, 6.50pm, Cross Maidan)
