Trent University Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory

The Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory is a Trent University service and research facility that provides DNA forensic evidence for provincial, federal, international, and non-government agencies. Originally established in 1989 at Queen's University by Dr. Bradley White, the facility was moved to McMaster University in 1991 and then to Trent in 1997.

In 1991 the laboratory produced the first DNA evidence involving a wildlife infraction to be accepted
into a North American court. Since then the lab has processed over 750 forensic cases involving
moose, white-tailed deer, black bear, wild turkey, walleye and rainbow trout. DNA analysis has
provided evidence for convictions with fines ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 per case.

Fish and Wildlife DNA profiling is done from collected samples such as blood, hair, bone, tissue,
antler and fish scales. The laboratory offers the following services:

The use of DNA fingerprinting in individual identification and parentage analysis.
The use of DNA markers for species identification.
The identification of mixed game animal tissue with domestic animal tissue.
The sex identification of ungulates, and population identification.
The primary purpose of the Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory is for the benefit of wildlife management and, as such, it is a non-profit organization.

SUGARLAND- STUCK LIKE GLUE LYRICS ♥♥♥♥♥♥

"Stuck Like Glue"

MMMM better...MMMM better...

Absolutely no one that knows me better
No one that can make me feel sooo goooood
How did we stay so long together?
When everybody, everybody said we never would
And just when I, I start to think they're right
That love has died...

[Chorus:]

There you go making my heart beat again,
Heart beat again,
Heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time?
There you go pulling me right back in,
Right back in,
Right back in
And I know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

I'm stuck on you

Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue

Some days I don't feel like trying

Some days you know I wanna just give up
When it doesn't matter who's right, thought about it all night
Had enough
You give me that look
"I'm sorry baby let's make up"
You do that thing that makes me laugh
And just like that...

[Chorus:]
There you go making my heart beat again,
Heart beat again,
Heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
Right back in,
Right back in
And I know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

I'm stuck on you

Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue

Whutooo Whutoo

You almost stay out, too stuck together from the ATL

Whutooo Whutoo
Feeling kinda sick?
Just a spoon full of sugar make it better real quick

I say

Whutooo Whutoo
Whatcha gonna do with that?
Whutooo Whutoo
Come on over here with that
Sugar sticky sweet stuff
Come on give me that stuff
Everybody wants some
Melodies that get stuck

Up in your head

Whutooo whutooo

Up in your head

Whutooo whutooo

Up in your head

Whutooo whutooo

Up in your head

Whutooo whutooo
Whuthoo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me together, say, it's all I wanna do
I said

[Chorus:]

There you go making my heart beat again,
Heart beat again,
Heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
Right back in,
Right back in
And I know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

There you go making my heart beat again,

Heart beat again,
Heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
Right back in,
Right back in
And I know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo
I'm stuck on you

Whutooo whutooo

Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue

THANKS FOR COMING BY !

Apocalypse.. Omen, End of Time.. Blah..Blah..Blah

Lets Talk Serious !!

Dead Birds falling from sky, Millions of fishes turning up dead on the shores of the coasts around the world, the decline in the bumble bee.. Is it that the clock for 2012 is ticking Already...Well it is common sense to be concerned when the animals around us start dying suddenly and in large numbers.

Everyone is talking about it,. the media reports just keep coming in on the phenomenon. So what exactly is happening??

Is it really the "Disease" , the "Global Warming", Blunt Trauma , "Aliens" (I just made that one up). Well the phenomenon of such a massive deaths has got many people concerned. If you have missed the Reports .. Here is the Recap of what might have been the Cause of death of the birds:

  1.       Loud Noise Likely Caused Birds' Deaths in Arkansas
  2.       Early tests show Ark. blackbirds died of trauma
  3.        Dead birds in Sweden killed by 'external blows

The fish deaths are also a mystery: While the scientists say that disease is the most likely cause -- because only one fish species washed up dead -- that explanation doesn't hold water. Here's why:
Animals deaths don't resemble infectious disease patternA virus, bacteria or fungus doesn't magically and suddenly spread across 100,000 members of one species all on the same day. It takes time for such infectious agents to spread. If disease were the cause, you should have seen a few fish showing up dead on one day, followed by a few more some days later, then a lot more after that, and then finally a much larger mass over the subsequent days or weeks as the infectious agent spread through the population. This could be an indication of a poison or some other radical change such as a sharp temperature change in the river. Something changed in the environment -- perhaps a rapid depletion of oxygen, or the interference with fish physiology through electromagnetic means. Forensics need to be the Next Step :)

FOOTWEAR EVIDENCE IN FORENSICS

Footwear track evidence can be very instrumental to the successful conclusion of a criminal investigation.Detailed examination of footwear impressions can help to link a specific piece of footwear to a footwear imprint as each shoe will have unique wear characteristics.

Photographing Footwear Evidence
Written by Dwane Hilderbrand
Taking quality examination photographs
When making quality examination photographs of the evidence prints, be sure to use the same numbered marker you used when you were showing the relationship of the print to the scene. In order for a footwear examiner to perform a quality examination, high-quality, close-up photographs are required. Since footwear evidence can come in two different forms—prints and impres-sions—the techniques of photography are slightly different. This can be easily obtained with a little time and patience. There are many types of cameras that are being used for crime-scene photo-graphy, ranging from 35 mm and 4 x 5 film cameras to digital cameras.
After the selection of the camera and the film or digital media, you will need to select an appropriate scale that will be present in all the photographs. This is very critical in order to allow for enlargement from the negative or image to make an exact duplicate of size (1:1). When no scale is utilized in the photograph, the examiner has no idea what the size of the real impression is. It then becomes difficult for the forensic photographer to print 1:1 scale photographs for examination purposes.

Types of footwear evidence

Footwear evidence can come in at least 3 forms, footwear outsole impression evidence, footwear insole impressions and footwear trace evidence.

Footwear outsole impression

Footwear outsole impressions are impressions left on an object that was caused by contact with a piece of footwear. These can left on the ground or raised surface by persons treading over it, left on doors or walls by persons attempting to kick or climb over a wall or even left on other persons after being kicked or stomped on.

Latent footwear outsole impressions:

Latent impressions are caused impressions that are not easily visible to naked eye. Such prints can be on many different surfaces such as floor tiles, concrete or even carpet. Latent impression may not be easily visible to the naked eye and its detection may require the use of additional specialized light sources such as portable UV lighting. Recovery typically includes photography as well as lifting with "gel" or "electrostatic" dust lifters.

Footwear Insole imprints

Footwear insole imprints are imprints left in the inside of footwear caused by contact from the person’s foot. Analysis of the insole imprints can be used to link a person(s) to a piece of footwear.

Footwear trace evidence

Footwear trace evidence is trace evidence that is recovered from footwear. Types of trace evidence that could be recovered include skin, glass fragments, body hair, fibres from clothing or carpets, soil particles, dust and bodily fluids. The study of this trace evidence could be used to link a piece of footwear to a location or owner.

Detection of footwear evidence

Detection of impression in ambient lighting

Detection with forensic light sources

Detection with electrostatic lifting devices

Detection with chemical enhancement
